Finish the Year Strong 💪—We’ve Got Your Back
As we move closer to exam time (it always seems to arrive faster than expected), I want to make sure everyone is aware of an academic support opportunity available to help finish the year strong. A little extra time and effort now can make a meaningful difference as we close out the academic year.
National Honor Society (NHS) peer tutoring is now available daily in Room 214. This is a valuable resource, and all students are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity. Whether you need help with a specific concept, want to prepare for an exam, or simply benefit from extra review, Room 214 is the place for you!
Letters have been sent to students and parents whose current academic standing indicates they may especially benefit from this additional support. Mrs. LaRosa has thoughtfully paired these students with NHS tutors, and NHS members have begun reaching out to initiate the connection and set up meetings. Walk-in help is available for all students, too.
Course Selection 📚- Plan Your Path for Next Year
Here is an abridged version of the email sent on April 9th. Please refer to that email for complete details.
The new 2026–2027 Academic Course Catalog was emailed to all students and families. This updated catalog is designed to clearly outline graduation requirements, course sequencing, and course descriptions, while bringing our skills-based curriculum to life!
Before meeting with your counselor:
All students and parents should review course offerings between now and your scheduled course selection window.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss planning prior to course selection, parents and/or students may schedule a meeting with counselors.
Carefully review all course prerequisites in the catalog.
Course Selection Process:
All students must schedule a course selection appointment in SCOIR with their counselor. No walk-ins will be accepted. Counselors will provide instructions on how to schedule an appointment.
During your course selection meeting, you will receive a course sequence sheet that requires parent and counselor signatures. This form must be returned (with parent signature) to complete the process. Your counselor will timestamp submission, and this will be used to place students in electives with limited seats.
Any and all course selection changes that result from earning higher rigor level eligibility in the second semester of 2026 or from a decision to revise your original choices (such as a move from a higher to lower rigor level or a change of elective choice after the 2025–2026 school year is completed) must be communicated to your counselor. All changes must be completed before June 22, 2026.
The aforementioned changes are not eligible for consideration during the add/drop period in Fall 2026. The Fall add/drop period is reserved for correcting rare administrative errors, not for accommodating student’s teacher preferences, early-year decisions that a selected rigor level is too challenging, scheduling requests to be in class with friends, etc. Please choose carefully now based on your interests, passions, and future plans!
Course Selection Timeline:
Current Juniors: April 15–April 17 (during Junior Seminar and by appointment)
Current Sophomores: April 21–April 24
Current Freshmen: April 28–May 1
Please be sure to come prepared with your course selections and any questions.
MissionQuest 🚀🌍: Experiential Learning in Action
Students – Save the Date! The next MissionQuest meeting will take place on May 11th and will focus on a deeper dive into your precourse assessment and course expectations.
Parents - Final payments were due by April 24. If you missed this deadline, students should bring payment to Mrs. Herold in the Main Office as soon as possible.
Parents—Lead chaperones will host parent meetings between May 4–15, either in person or virtually, to review expectations, activities, and assessments. Additional details will be shared by the lead chaperones as the dates of the meeting windows approach.
Thank you for your attention to these details and for your continued support in making MissionQuest a meaningful experience for our students.

Huge Success for "The Rising"
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that this year’s "The Rising" event was a record-breaking success! Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and spirit of our community, we raised over $800,000. These funds will go a long way in supporting our students and programs, and we cannot thank you enough for your continued investment in our school’s mission.
A Heartfelt Thank You
An event of this magnitude truly takes a village. We would like to extend a special thank you to the following families for their contributions:
The McDonald Family: For lending their time and incredible creativity to craft the beautiful balloon arches and columns that set the perfect tone for the evening.
The Aponte, Mantuano, Minghenelli, and Somogy Families: We are deeply grateful for your dedicated support, whether through generous monetary donations or your invaluable help in securing prizes for the event.
To everyone who attended, purchased tickets, or volunteered - thank you. You are what makes this community so special!
Annual Giving
Annual giving is the steady heartbeat of St. Joseph Academy’s mission, providing reliable, flexible support that sustains the school’s daily operations and enriches the student experience. Through the generosity of alumni, families, and friends, annual gifts help fund academic programs, campus improvements, extracurricular opportunities, and financial assistance for students in need. Just as important, annual giving strengthens the Academy’s community - fostering a shared commitment to its values and ensuring that future generations of students continue to learn, grow, and thrive.
