A New Chapter in Service: SJA’s Servant Leadership Institute Launches Partnership with Key Club
At St. Joseph Academy, service is not just something we do—it’s part of who we are. We’re excited to share the news of a brand-new partnership between our Servant Leadership Institute and Key Club International, one of the most respected student-led service organizations in the world. Though the chapter is just launching, this collaboration promises to enrich the leadership experience for our students and deepen our connection to the broader South Jersey community.
The Heart of Our Mission: The Servant Leadership Institute
Founded on the belief that true leadership begins with selfless action, the Servant Leadership Institute has become a defining feature of the St. Joseph Academy experience. With over 40 active partnerships across South Jersey, the Institute provides students with hands-on opportunities to serve, lead, and grow. Our students are involved in a wide range of initiatives—from organizing donation drives and supporting food pantries to volunteering at shelters and offering peer mentorship.
These partnerships are more than service hours—they’re life-shaping encounters that foster empathy, responsibility, and civic awareness. As students step out into the community, they begin to see their role not just as students, but as contributors to something greater than themselves. The Institute continues to grow each year, attracting new partners and creating deeper service experiences that reflect our mission of Faith, Family, and Future.
Enter Key Club: Global Service, Local Impact
Now, through our emerging partnership with Key Club International, SJA is expanding its reach. Sponsored by Kiwanis International, Key Club is the world’s oldest and largest student-led service organization, with a legacy of empowering students to become servant leaders in their schools and communities. Members are connected to a global network of peers and mentors while gaining access to leadership development opportunities, community service projects, and even scholarship resources.
While we are just launching our Key Club chapter, the potential is already clear. The structure and reputation of Key Club will help enhance our existing framework by offering students more formal leadership roles, project-planning tools, and national recognition. For students looking to make an even bigger difference—and build a strong foundation for college and beyond—this partnership is a powerful new avenue.
Voices from Leadership
Mrs. LaRosa, Director of Servant Leadership, is enthusiastic about what lies ahead:
“Partnering with Kiwanis, the high school Key Club, offers students invaluable opportunities to develop leadership skills, engage in more community service, and access scholarships that pave the way to higher education and beyond. Rooted in the principles of faith in action and servant leadership, this collaboration empowers students to make a positive impact while preparing them for future success.”
Mr. Stephen Cappuccio, Head of School at St. Joseph Academy, added:
“The foundation of our school is built on Faith, Family, and Future—and this partnership embodies all three. It strengthens our family of service-minded students, puts our faith into action through meaningful programs, and prepares our students to lead with integrity and compassion in the years to come.”
Looking Ahead
While we are just beginning this journey with Key Club, the shared values between both organizations make this partnership a natural fit. Our students will benefit from enhanced service-learning experiences, expanded leadership opportunities, and the chance to connect with a global movement of youth committed to making the world a better place.
At St. Joseph Academy, we believe in preparing students not just for academic success, but for a lifetime of purpose. The partnership between the Servant Leadership Institute and Key Club is a step toward a future where our students continue to lead by example—through service, humility, and a passion for change.
